  • Ice, Ice, Cheesy…

Rapper Vanilla Ice resurfaces to shill for Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.

Every few years, rapper Vanilla Ice manages to thrust himself back into the public spotlight, only to humiliate himself again and again. This time, he’s donning a green apron to promote Kraft’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-shaped macaroni, and the embarrassing commercial arrives complete with the infamous “Ninja Rap” from his even-more embarrassing cameo in 1991’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze”.

Ice, whose real name is Robert Matthew Van Winkle, has been attempting comebacks ever since his 15 minutes of fame came and went in the early 1990’s. We’ve seen him attempt rap-rock metal albums, reality shows, celebrity boxing tournaments, and whatever else he’s been able to think of to try and rebuild his image. Now, it would appear that he’s just going for broke on that brand (and the attempt at any possible coolness factor), and simply cashing in his remaining chips. “Word to ya mutha”, indeed.

The sad part is, even if Vanilla Ice does retire from public life at some point, we’ll most likely still have his near-clone Justin Bieber to contend with for years to come.

From his early days as an FM host and club DJ in the mid-90′s to his later experiences in political talk radio, he has always had a knack for combining topical news with his love for popular culture. Those experiences culminated in his position as executive producer for several radio shows featured in the TALKERS Heavy 100. Originally from New York, Fox has made the great pilgrimage down to sunny south Florida.
