In Olean, New York, some firefighters stopped into a local McDonald’s, just after fighting a fire in the freezing cold. It was there that 23-year old Good Samaritan Heather Levia decided to ask her supervisor whether McDonald’s might foot the bill. When that supervisor declined, Heather went ahead and paid the $83 tab herself, as a gesture to thank the first responders for their service.
When she showed up for her next shift, Levia was terminated, after 8 years of employment. Justified? You decide.
