Some Willamette Week newspaper staffers recently met with a few Oregon Republican U.S. Senate candidates and things got heated after one of the reporters was caught scribbling “blah blah blah” on his notepad while a candidate was speaking.
The video shows GOP U.S. Senate candidate Mark Callahan taring into reporter Nigel Jaquiss for mocking Jo Rae Perkins‘ answer to a question.
“I see what you’re writing down there,” Callahan said. “You just wrote down ‘blah blah blah blah’ for everything that Jo Rae said. Jo Rae is a respectful woman. Why are you not respecting her by writing ‘blah blah blah blah’ in your notepad?”
Then Jaquiss can be heard trying to calm Callahan down. Jaquiss asks Callahan about his views on climate change.
“It’s a myth,” Callahan replied.
“Where are you on the Easter bunny?” Jaquiss quipped.
And that really set Callahan off. “Are these really the questions that I was called here to answer? I called you out for putting “blah blah blah” on your notepad and now you’re asking me questions like this? Really? Really? Are we talking about this now? How about you ask a very serious and respectful question instead of asking a little childish question?”
Then Jaquiss told Callahan that he wanted to move on and ask other candidate their views on climate change. “And if you’re not going to let me, I’m going to ask you to leave, okay?” Jaquiss said. “That’s two strikes.”
“Who do you think you are?” Callahan replied.
And just before he was asked to leave the interview Callahan said, “disrespectful, thin-skinned liberals.”
