When all else fails, try out a hashtag! Or, in the case of Team Obama, let that be your first and only method.
It’s been nearly a month now since terrorist group Boko Haram captured 300 girls, an abduction which Barack Obama himself called “heartbreaking” and “outrageous.” Yet, he doesn’t seem to be doing much of anything about it, apart from claiming to be sending “experts” into the region. Asked about the kidnappings this week, Obama said his administration is monitoring things:
Yep, it would appear that Hashtag Diplomacy is the preferred method of action once again. First Lady Michelle Obama sent her support out yesterday in the form of a TwitPic, which included the rather bizarre/staged facial expression seen above.
To be fair, even Michele Bachmann has taken part in the #BringBackOurGirls movement. But she’s not exactly in a position to be making any big international moves. Expect to see the State Department’s Jen Psaki join up next:
