The Smartest Dude in the World Plays Soccer With Lions

What could go wrong?

Meet Kevin Richardson. He spends most of his time working with cats at a sanctuary in South Africa…big cats. HUGE cats, in fact. He takes care of them, feeds them, and…plays soccer with them.

Now join me as together, we compile just a short list of the bad ideas that the above video celebrates:

  • Kevin jumps on a lion’s back.
  • Kevin places hands and face directly in front of a lion’s mouth.
  • Kevin wrestles a lion to the ground.
  • Kevin lies in a submissive position next to a lion.
  • Kevin teases a lion with a game of “Keep Away.”

Why on earth would he do this? Well, just in time for World Cup Soccer, SportsGrid says it will donate a soccer ball to Richardson’s wildlife habitat for every goal he scores against a pride of lions. I’d love to see the legal paperwork involved in that deal. No indication was given regarding what happens if the lions eat the ball. Or Kevin. Anyone else having flashbacks of the documentary film, “Grizzly Man“? Or perhaps “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin? Yeah, they’re both dead.

According to Richardson’s Wikipedia page, this real man of genius has only suffered a few minor injuries from messing around with the big cats. Only time will tell how long Kevin can manage to continue tempting fate, but if this all ends in one big, bloody mess, at least he had a nice suit on.

Fox has history in broadcasting that spans two decades. From his early days as an FM host and club DJ in the mid-90′s to his later experiences in political talk radio, he has always had a knack for combining topical news with his love for popular culture. Those experiences culminated in his position as executive producer for several radio shows featured in the TALKERS Heavy 100. Originally from New York, Fox has made the great pilgrimage down to sunny south Florida.
