Bush In 2007: Early Withdrawal From Iraq Will Lead To Mass Killings, Terrorist Safe Haven

Apparently, President George W. Bush predicted that the large-scale killings and resurgence of Sunni Islamists now taking over control in Iraq would happen if we withdrew too soon.

Back in 2007, President George W. Bush said, “the fight in Iraq is part of a broader struggle that’s unfolding across the region.” Bush argued then that if the United States was to pull back and even completely withdraw troops from Iraq, it would cause a chain reaction that would result in terrorists moving their safe haven from Afghanistan to Iraq.

Bush also said a complete US troop withdrawal would allow terrorists to continue to commit “mass killings on a horrific scale” without fear of repercussions.
