“The Taliban is part of the fabric of Afghanistan … to say that they are terrorists, at this point, is not necessarily accurate.”
Have more inane words ever been spoken by anyone, Democrat or otherwise? That’s Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-CA), making one of the most bizarre excuses for the Taliban that one could possibly imagine. Whether or not they’re part of the “fabric of Afghanistan” is irrelevant to the fact that the Taliban are a bunch of cold-blooded killers. But Speier, being the über-lefty that she is, will say just about anything to help cover Obama’s exposed ass. And in this case, that means pretending that the Gitmo Five, whom the president just released out into the wild, are about as harmless to us as The Smurfs. Pardon me, but my memory of what happened on September 11th is leaving me just a wee-bit skeptical about the notion that ANY Taliban members aren’t people to be extremely concerned about. I’d be worried about them even if they were low-level guys, but the Gitmo Five are senior Taliban members that were hand-selected by our enemies for release!
Sorry, Jackie, but if you honestly think this is all a bunch of phony outrage, I’d love to see you attending a Taliban dinner party. Yeah, I didn’t think so. While you “underscore the term terrorists,” I’d like to “underscore” my opinion that you have no business representing America.
