Hey, look…some good news for once! But isn’t it amazing (read: extremely convenient and possibly suspect) how good news always seems to materialize out of whole cloth right when Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton need it the most? I don’t mean to diminish the mission to capture Ahmed Abu Khattala, one of the terrorists responsible for killing our Libyan ambassador and many others, but as you can see from the above report, it would appear that the administration could have apprehended this guy at any time. CNN’s Arwa Damon had the thug’s phone number, for goodness’ sake!
Perhaps it’s a result of the cynical sense that Obama’s actions have inspired in many of his critics — which is understandable after 6 years worth of dishonesty from his White House — but you have to admit that the timing here is quite fortuitous for them, much in the way that they had hoped the Bowe Bergdahl return would have been a positive contrast to the Veterans Affairs scandal (it wasn’t). The administration mindset is simple: we have Iraq blowing up and Obama shouldering much of the blame for cutting and running from the region. How about another feelgood story to distract the American public with?
I can almost imagine Barack saying to his team, “Iraq is a mess…go cuff him, boys!”
What’s that? You have a hard time believing that Team Obama would choose not to arrest one of the key culprits of the Benghazi attacks? Check this out, courtesy of The New York Times (of all sources) back in 2012:
“Witnesses and the authorities have called Ahmed Abu Khattala one of the ringleaders of the Sept. 11 attack on the American diplomatic mission here. But just days after President Obama reasserted his vow to bring those responsible to justice, Mr. Abu Khattala spent two leisurely hours on Thursday evening at a crowded luxury hotel, sipping a strawberry frappe on a patio and scoffing at the threats coming from the American and Libyan governments.”
In other words, they’ve known exactly where Khattala has been for YEARS now.
But perhaps you’re still not convinced that politics MIGHT have played a part in his arrest. So how about this:
Hillary Clinton is being interviewed live on Fox News tonight. It was touted as an opportunity for Bret Baier and Greta Van Susteren to finally get the chance to ask her the tough questions about what happened on that fateful September 11th night, and the fact that until today, no one had been held accountable on any level. This certainly softens that narrative, no?
It’s unfortunate to have to be this cynical about our leaders. But you have to stay on your toes when it comes to The Obamas and The Clintons. They’ve burned us with lies far too many times. “The most transparent administration in history”? Permit me to doubt.
But it’s never a bad time for a little victory lap:
