National Border Patrol Council Vice President: Agents Lost Count After 280 Illegals Crossed The Border

Chris Cabrera, Vice President  of the National Border Patrol Council, appeared on Laura Ingraham’s radio show on Wednesday and said “right now the U.S. border is probably the most porous that it’s ever been.”

Chris went on to say that “just earlier today, we had a group of 280 women and children turn themselves in at one time.” All this happened, according to Cabrera, before noon. “One of the guys said that they had lost count at 280 and they had to do a recount. At 280 they had lost count. They were loading everybody up in the vans and they had just walked up and turned themselves in.”

Cabrera also said the Border Pratrol’s apprehension success rate is a whole lot lower than what’s being reported. “The number out there before has been that the border is secure, that we’re at 80 percent or 90 percent success rate in apprehensions when in actuality we’re lucky to get into the 30s. The Border Patrol, historically, has been good at hiding the true number of people that get away.”

The Daily Mail has also noted that known gang members are among the estimated 47,000 children that have illegally crossed into the U.S. since the beginning of 2014.

Cabrera also said the federal government is keeping border agents “in the dark,” and has been ignoring the concerns of agents on the ground. “For the last month we’ve been warning them that we were getting overrun and nobody seems to take note up on the DHS level. The Border Patrol has done a lot to intimidate agents from speaking out.”
