  • Legal Expert: Yeah, I’m Pretty Sure Obama Has No Authority to Mess With Immigration Laws Like This

    Truth

“Dicey” and “treacherous” — those are two words CNN’s legal beagle Jeffrey Toobin is using to describe the legality — or lack thereof — surrounding Barack Obama’s latest announcement that he’ll be taking executive action on immigration, since he just doesn’t feel like working with Congress in order to get it done the right way. He’s simply too tired.

That’s not necessarily the way the Constitution set it up,” remarked Toobin in response to Obama’s defense yesterday that he only acts on his own when “Congress chooses to do nothing.” What’s most ridiculous about the president’s decision to task the DOJ and DHS with crafting even more executive orders is that his blatant disregard for the Constitution has already been blowing up in his face left and right, between the Supreme Court’s rejection of his recess appointments, their ruling in favor of Hobby Lobby, and of course, House Speaker John Boehner’s pending lawsuit against the administration. Obama just keeps on truckin’, clearly illustrating just what it means to be the ultimate lame duck. Here he was in the Rose Garden on Monday, admonishing the GOP for failing to “pass a darn bill”:

Uh-oh! Looks like Daddy Barry is angry! Do you ever get the sense that this man views his opposition in Congress the same way he views Sasha and Malia? It’s like he believes he’s the Republicans’ father and it’s his duty to hand out life lessons, despite the fact that most lawmakers have been in D.C. far longer than he has. But hey, Barry knows best. Let’s see how far he gets with this one before the Supreme Court is forced to yet again show him who really runs things.
