  • Sheila Jackson Lee: “Our Border Is Under Control”

Yes, Sheila Jackson Lee is still out of her mind.

In an appearance on MSNBC Thursday, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) said she believes the U.S.-Mexico border isn’t in bad as shape as it is being reported.

MSNBC host Craig Melvin asked Lee if she thought the border was secure, yes or no. “Our border with now 21,000 border patrol agents is under control,” Lee responded. “There’s a large amount of money for increasing numbers of border patrol and ICE officers. But I would not cry fire to suggest that our border patrol agents are not on the job. They are on the job. I have spoken to them. I have been on the border, I have been on the Rio Grande. I have been on the border at night.”

Sheila Jackson Lee should know better than that.

Since September, there have been at least 50,000 unaccompanied youths who have illegally crossed the Texas border over the last several months, and have been delivered by federal agents to their relatives living in the United States.

And U.S. officials have caught an additional 240,000 Central American migrants since April, and are transporting many of them to various destinations throughout America, according to the New York Times.

That’s at least 290,000 illegal immigrants–to date–that have now become wards of the American taxpayer welfare system. If Sheila Jackson Lee thinks the border is under control, I’d hate to see it out of control.
