At a press conference Thursday, Speaker of the House John Boehner ferociously said the border crisis is “a problem of the president’s own making.” Boehner then lost it asking when Obama plans “to take responsibility for something?”
Boehner also suggested that Obama send the National Guard to the border, asserting that Obama’s “actions gave false hope to children and their families, that if they entered the country illegally, they would be allowed to stay.” “Our priorities are clear,” Boehner continued, “take care of these children; return them safely to their home countries and to their home families; and secure the border.”
“The National Guard is uniquely qualified to address these types of humanitarian crises,” Boehner said. Sending the National Guard to the border, Boehner concluded, would also “free up border patrol agents” who could “focus on their jobs of securing the border.”
