And here we go yet again with another great moment from Israeli Ambassador Ron Dermer that will have you pumping your fist with one hand…while simultaneously ripping your own hair out with the other. I’ve said before that the poor guy deserves battle pay simply for having to put up with these media morons, and that was certainly true on Sunday’s Meet the Press. David Gregory’s line of questioning was so blatantly biased and naive that it’s a wonder Dermer didn’t begin his response with “Listen, clown!”
Gregory was right in line with the rest of his NBC/MSNBC colleagues in continuing to point out casualties on the Palestinian side of the Gaza conflict, while remaining willfully ignorant of the history that brought Israel to the current tipping point. Virtually every time an Israeli explains to a left-wing journalist how Hamas uses its own citizens as human shields and encourages more death, said journalist pretends not to hear it and goes about their business of rattling off more anti-Israel talking points. “The road to peace goes over Hamas; it doesn’t include Hamas,” explained Ambassador Dermer to a predictably clueless David Gregory.
I nearly tuned out altogether at the moment when Gregory began to proclaim, “If you look at Andrea Mitchell’s piece...” — which was in reference to a horribly biased news wrap airing moments earlier that showcased Palestinian deaths almost exclusively. What Gregory was ultimately getting around to asking was whether Hamas belongs in a representative government of Israelis and Palestinians. A stupid question on its face no matter how it was asked, but Dermer, of course, had an excellent response:
“Take the case of Iraq. Do you think the solution of Iraq is to have the Iraqi government just simply include ISIS as a member of the government? Because that’s what the Palestinian government just did.”
Boom. Dermer did it again…and the NBC host still didn’t get it.
Of course, if we started drawing analogies between Hamas and Ted Cruz (or Hamas and Sarah Palin), these media puppets would suddenly understand completely. Losers.
