Charleigh Matice of Morehead City, North Carolina was furious when she found a Nazi swastika on the top bun of her McDonald’s chicken sandwich.
Matice, whose grandfather fought in World War II, says she couldn’t believe her own eyes. “Is this a joke? Matice asked. “Does somebody really think they’re funny?”
“Many, many people died under that symbol, because of it, and it’s not something that should be taken lightly. And It’s not something that should be thrown around.”
The local McDonald’s location owner and operator Dulcy Purcell, released a statement acknowledging that the swastika-drawing employee had been fired, WCTI 12 reports.
Matice asked that there be a broader investigation, and insisted that she’s over the whole situation.
“I’m a loyal customer and that’s why I don’t want people like that representing them,” Matice said.
Matice says she plans to eat McDonald’s again in the near future.
