Barack “War On Coal” Obama Decries “Endless Regulation”

I’m not sure if Obama’s speechwriters are complete idiots or if he just doesn’t care how ridiculous he sounds whenever he rails against actions he specializes in.

Speaking to a (probably bored) crowd today at the Clinton Global Initiative Forum, Obama said “From Russia to China to Venezuela . . . laws make it incredibly difficult for NGOs to operate.”

“From Hungary to Egypt, endless regulations and overt intimidation increasingly target civil society,” he added.

The irony here is that it is Obama who is the King of Regulation.

It is his war on fossil fuels that is forcing American coal power plants out of business. Obama is the one who said he would force energy prices to “ necessarily skyrocket.” It is his IRS that intimidated and targeted conservative non-profit organizations. It is Obama’s EPA that is targeting America’s coal power producers (a fact that even Democrats running for office have blasted Obama on).

It is Obama, not Bush, who has ushered in America’s current regulatory state. See the chart below, provided by the Heritage Foundation:

Sadly, Obama’s hypocrisy reached even higher heights today. In that same speech, Obama went on to say “We cannot condemn our children, and their children, to a future that is beyond their capacity to repair. Not when we have the means — the technological innovation and the scientific imagination — to begin the work of repairing it right now.”

No. He wasn’t referring to the staggering amounts of debt he has helped pile up over the last six years. No. Obama was talking about climate change.
