Luke is the not-as-talented son of the late “Meet The Press” host, Tim Russert.
Sitting in for MSNBC host Alex Wagner, Luke Russert joined the chorus of liberal talking heads in assigning homophobia as the reason why NFL teams are hesitant to hire openly gay player Michael Sam.
After listing reasons why he thought NFL teams haven’t shown interest in scooping up Sam, Russert offered up his own idiotic opinion. “The reason why there is a slowness to signing him to a practice squad is probably because he’s gay,” he said Wednesday.
Russert continued the segment, hammering the NFL with Time senior writer Sean Gregory. The two are seen above confirming each other’s dimwitted opinions.
After he was released last weekend by the St. Louis Rams, Sam “passed a physical and joined the Dallas Cowboys’ 10-man practice squad,” ESPN reported.
I have myriad issues with what Luke Russert said. But I have even more questions.
How many NFL coaches did Luke Russert talk to before he said teams are slow to sign Micahel Sam because he is gay? Which NFL player said that to Luke Russert? Has Luke interviewed any players or coaches to confirmed his assertion? Did he invite any of them to be on the show?
He is a Capital Hill reporter for NBC, after all.
Did Luke Russert learn nothing from watching his daddy all those years? Where is the evidence supporting his claim that dozens of NFL teams showed a hesitancy to Sam because he is gay?
The truth is, of course, he doesn’t have any evidence. He didn’t want to ask questions or investigate. All Luke Russert has is his liberal impulses. And it’s his reactionary liberalism that led him to accuse the NFL of discriminating against Sam, without an ounce of proof.
So that’s Luke Russert, an intellectually weak, predictably liberal, helplessly lazy “journalist.”
Which is probably why many members of the mainstream media are sour on him being added as a regular panelist on “Meet the Press.”
Gawker‘s Hamilton Nolan called Russert “a dim 29-year-old dude,” The Daily Caller’s Betsy Rothstein reported. Rothstein also captured others people’s reaction to Luke being added as a regular on “Meet The Press.”
Here are a few of them:
“Luke is a goofball.”
“The trifecta: nepotism, liberalism & feminism … a ratings bust.”
After watching the clip about, and hearing Russert’s stupidity with my own ears, It’s hard to argue with the opinions listed above.
Russert is a tool. But what else do you expect from NBC?
