Marie Harf: ISIS Surprised Everyone, Even Itself

Obama’s State Department deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf admitted to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer exactly how incompetent the administration truly is.

According to Harf, the entire U.S. intelligence community was caught off guard by how swift ISIS grew in size and force in Iraq and Syria.

“The president said, for a long time we’ve known about the serious threat from ISIL,” Harf said. “But everyone, us, the Iraqis, even ISIS itself, was surprised by how quickly earlier this summer they were able to take territory in Iraq. They moved more quickly than anyone could have imagined. Assessing the will of a force to fight, the capability is one thing you can assess, but the will is a tough thing to assess. I know these are challenging assessments to do.”

That’s right. She actually said ISIS surprised itself with how quickly it came to power in the region.

But of course Marie Harf and the Obama administration’s “we were all caught off guard” line is a bunch of bull.

In recent weeks, disgruntled Pentagon officials have come forward with claims that Obama has been briefed and was warned about ISIS in his Presidential Daily Briefings for over a year.

Worse still, moments after Harf’s stupid statement, CNN host Brooke Baldwin reported that the U.S. airstrikes are failing to stop ISIS’s attempts to capture a Syrian town near the Turkish border.

“Everything that we have been seeing and hearing supports the conclusion that ISIS is now very close to its goal on the outskirts of Kobani,” Baldwin said. “It’s been regularly shelling this city today according to people in the city. As many as 20 times. We believe up to three civilians were killed as a result of that shelling. They are close. they are moving closer from the east, the south and the west and those Kurdish fighters are doing everything they can to slow them down but they are outnumbered and they are outgunned.”
