America’s Great Ebola-Fighting Hope: The “Germ-Zapping Robot”

Nope, it’s not a report from The Onion — this is the real deal. I always worried that things were beginning to get rather nutty at the Pentagon once Chuck Hagel took over the reins as Secretary of Defense. And now, my concerns have been validated.

The Department of Defense has just announced the deployment of a “germ-zapping robot” to locate and destroy the Ebola virus, ala Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Terminator.

The robot’s name is “Saul,” which immediately gave me hope that he would be a cybernetic lawyer dressed in a pink shirt. But alas.

DOD released a short film to demonstrate what Saul can do. Essentially, chemicals and viruses that can’t be touched by humans can be targeted and destroyed by Saul, who has received an overwhelmingly positive reception as the Pentagon’s newest staff member. He is reported to be able to completely kill Ebola traces in about five minutes.

So, as with most things in life, if you’re starting to feel violently ill…you’d Better Call Saul.
