  • Behold Kobani, Yet Another Warning Team Obama Has Decided to Ignore

Secretary of State John Kerry has declared that the town of Kobani on the Turkish border, which is expected to be overtaken by ISIS very soon, is not important.

As horrific as it is to watch in real time what’s happening in Kobani … you have to step back and understand the strategic objective,” he said.

But perhaps that’s the problem; no one really does understand the United States’ strategic objective as laid out by President Obama. It’s simply too confusing and filled with too many conflicting components to make much sense at all. Even more infuriating about this slap-dash strategy is the prediction by many that if Kobani falls, ISIS may gain such a strategic advantage over us that we’ll never really “degrade” them as planned, let alone “defeat” them. Couple that with air strikes that have targeted empty buildings much more than actual human beings, and this mission appears doomed.

Perhaps Secretary Kerry is being a little bit tone-deaf to the importance that Kobani has taken on here,” NBC’s Richard Engel said in the video above. “Everyone can see Kobani. People are watching the city fall almost in real time, and they are watching Turkish troops sitting 200 yards away doing nothing … American airplanes, until very recently, hadn’t been doing much.”

And Engel isn’t the only one blasting away at Obama and Kerry over their ignorance of Kobani. Here’s what former Lieutenant Colonel Bill Cowan told Fox News earlier today:

I can’t believe [Kerry] is saying it’s not a priority,” said Cowan. “The fact of the matter, it’s the center of the world stage right now. Everybody’s watching what is happening in Kobani. Everybody knows the Americans are making some strikes, but nothing that’s going to change what is happening on the battle, not outside of city. The battle is inside the city … the United States will look absolutely foolish for doing some pinpricks strikes that had no effect on the outcome.”

Excellent. So it appears that the Obama administration has learned NOTHING from its past mistakes of miscalculation and underestimation.

Then again, the analogy we use around here sometimes, and I think is accurate, is if a jayvee team puts on Lakers uniforms, that doesn’t make them Kobani.
