Berkeley Mayor: This is No Ferguson

Attention all would-be protesters and potential looters in Berkeley Missouri: What happened last night was NOT Michael Brown 2.0 or even an Eric Garner Redux. That message is coming straight from Berkeley’s own mayor, Theodore Hoskins.

You couldn’t even compare this with Ferguson or the Garner case in New York, “Hoskins explained. “The Garner case in New York, they had the video. Ferguson, they did not. We have the video, and I can assure you that what is on the video is what we’re going use.”

He continued, “We are different from the City of Ferguson … and we all know 80-95% of our policemen serve our community well. So jumping to conclusions without investigating is not acceptable. And I have some fine officers.”

Unfortunately, there have already been several incidents of rioting, protests, and looting, so it remains to be seen whether the mayor’s words will be heard by Berkeley residents moving forward. Watch his remarks above.
