  • Radical Muslim Cleric Issues Fatwa Banning Big, Bad, EVIL . . . Snowmen

Leave it to a whacked-out Islamic leader in good ol’ Saudi Arabia to ban building snowmen because… it’s not acceptable to Islam.

In recent days, snowstorms have pounded the upland areas of Tabuk province near Saudi Arabia’s northern border with Jordan. Naturally, Muslims in that area wanted to take advantage of the snow fall and have some fun. But apparently building snowmen and having fun is frowned upon in Islam.

“It is not permitted to make a statue out of snow, even by way of play and fun,” said Saudi Sheikh Mohammed Saleh al-Munajjid. “God has given people space to make whatever they want which does not have a soul, including trees, ships, fruits, buildings and so on,” al-Munajjid wrote in Islamic chatroom.

One Muslim blogger reacting to the snowman ban wrote, “We have snow for fleeting days, maybe even hours, and there is always someone who wants to rob us of the joy and the fun. It seems that the only thing left for us is to sit down and drink coffee,” according to the UK Telegraph.

That blogger had better pipe down.

Saudi Arabian officials began the public flogging of the jailed blogger Raif Badawi, who received the first 50 of 1,000 lashes last Friday. His crime? “Running a liberal website devoted to freedom of speech in the conservative kingdom,” The Guardian reports.

    So, let’s recap.

The Religion of Peace is rebuking the building of snowmen and punishes anybody who publicly disagrees with this demented nonsense.

Funny. It’s just like Barack Obama said in 2012: “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.” Or build snowmen.
