  • Steny Hoyer Calls GOP Leader A “Coward” On House Floor

Thursday night, the Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) was so frustrated at Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) that he called him a “coward” on the House floor.

The debate was over the issue of funding the Department of Homeland Security, which is currently a major source of contention between House Democrats and Republicans.

Homeland is funded only through Friday, as Republicans are attempting to fund the department except for the portions needed to carry out Obama’s unlawful executive amnesty.

Hoyer asked, “What can we expect to be on the floor tomorrow Mr. Leader?” McCarthy attempted to ensure that the House would finish it’s work before the end of Friday’s session.

“This House has taken action to make sure that DHS is fully funded. We did our part, and I yield back,” McCarthy said, at which point Hoyer then called him a “coward.”

Shortly after, Deirdre Walsh from CNN said that Hoyer told her that he had apologized to McCarthy and the apology was accepted.

Speaking of “cowards,” the Democrats in the Senate refused to even allow a vote on an appropriations bill that would’ve funded Homeland, but defunded the President’s executive actions on illegal immigration.
