  • Cop Gets 2 Years In The Slammer For Teaching People How To Cheat Polygraph Tests

A former Oklahoma cop has been sentenced to two years in prison for training people to cheat polygraph tests.

Douglas G. Williams, 69, pleaded guilty in May of this year to two counts of mail fraud and three counts of witness tampering for teaching people to conceal the truth from polygraphs by controlling their body and tricking the machine.

A former polygraph operator for Oklahoma City police, he lost faith in the validity of the test and decided to quit administering them. Instead, he began teaching the tips and tricks to outsmart them.

Williams ran polygraph.com, part of his business of selling the tactics, such as changing your breathing and flexing muscles, to deceive the polygraph test. His site says he went “from cop to Crusader.”

Federal authorities, however, say he broke the law when he trained someone posing as a federal agent to lie and hide information from ongoing internal investigations and to deny they ever got help from him.

He also admitted helping another person lie to hide their criminal background to get a job.

Williams had become famous for his polygraph knowledge, appearing on shows like the Discovery Channel and Dateline.
