It drives me nuts when somebody tries to pull the wool over my eyes. I hate being conned. That’s why I am so disturbed by all the manufactured hysteria about climate change. The truth is clearly stated in my book, In Lies We Trust: “It cannot be claimed beyond a reasonable doubt that (a) global warming exists, or that (b) climate change is caused by human activities, or that (c) climate change is dangerous. I would like to remain open-minded on this issue but the more research I do, the more convinced I am that global warming is a giant hoax.”
It used to be suicide to admit that you deny global warming. But now the media, which has supported the GW agenda lock, stock, and barrel, is reacting to an unexpected development: The president-elect and his nominee for EPA administrator are skeptical about climate change. It is finally acceptable to defy Al Gore and his gang of GW bullies. Articles agreeing with my position have been popping up all over the place.
“The oft-repeated claim that nearly all scientists demand that something dramatic be done to stop global warming is not true,” a group of distinguished scientists revealed in the Wall Street Journal. “In fact, a large and growing number of distinguished scientists and engineers do not agree that drastic actions on global warming are needed.” In support of this conclusion is the Global Warming Petition Project, in which 31,000 physicists and physical chemists contend that “there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate.”
John Coleman, founder of the Weather Channel, is one of many skeptics who contradict the validity of GW science. “There is no significant man-made global warming at this time,” said Coleman, “there has been none in the past and there is no reason to fear any in the future.” But what about all the hysteria over carbon dioxide emissions? Says Coleman, “Efforts to prove the theory that carbon dioxide is a significant greenhouse gas and pollutant causing significant warming or weather effects have failed.”
So why has the Obama Administration tried so hard to shove this nonsense down our throats? The answer is that alarmism over climate is being used to justify Obama’s appetite for bigger government. “The government scares people into thinking that the end is nigh,” The Federalist Papers Project explained, “and that the only way to turn it around is to cede control to the federal government and allow them to force their economy-killing policies on business.”
Climate hysteria also reinforces Obama’s globalist aspirations. “One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy,” confessed German economist and UN official Ottmar Edenhofer. “Climate policy has almost nothing to do anymore with environmental protection. The next world climate summit is actually an economy summit during which the distribution of the world’s resources will be negotiated.” Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the UN’s Framework Convention on Climate Change and the driving force behind the 2015 Paris Agreement, admitted that the goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity but to destroy capitalism. As reported in Investor’s Business Daily, Figueres said, “This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution.”
In case you don’t understand what that means, UN bureaucrats—under the guise of responding to climate change—want to take what you have and give it to people in the less developed parts of the world. That will play right into Obama’s socialist dream of fundamentally transforming America. He thinks we have too much. Just as he wants to redistribute income from rich to poor domestically, Obama wants to do the same thing on a global scale even if it means crippling the US economy.
Climate Change Business Journal quantified the cost of proposed anti-GW measures at a whopping $1.5 trillion per year. That’s $1.5 trillion to solve a non-existent problem. And what do we get for this waste of time, money, and effort? Danish environmentalist Bjorn Lomborg calculates that even if every nation in the world adheres to its climate change commitments by 2030, by the end of this century it will reduce the world’s temperatures by a mere 0.048°C or 1/20th of a degree Celsius.
If you are still unconvinced that GW is a hoax, read Chapter Eight in my book where I describe how the US government, the UN, and the media have brainwashed us with an avalanche of propaganda. I lay out all the evidence that we are being conned. And that just makes me mad.
