During the hearing, Lois Lerner, the former director of the IRS’s Exempt Organizations division, chose to invoke her Fifth Amendment right almost a dozen times, a move that sapped Chairman Issa’s patience. But before Issa could adjourn the hearing, Cummings, the committee’s top Democrat, raised his hand to speak. Issa moved to adjourn the meeting anyway. Cummings then shouted “Mr. Chairman, you cannot run a committee like this,” as his microphone was being cut off.
“I am a member of the Congress of the United States of America! I am tired of this,” Cummings bellowed.
It didn’t take long for accusations of racism to be hurled at Darrell Issa. Jesse Jackson couldn’t help himself.
Congressman Darrell Issa’s behavior was crude, wrong, racist and mean towards Congressman Elijah Cummings. Do you agree?

In reaction, former Florida Congressman Lt. Col. Allen West said on Fox News that Congressman Issa fails to realize that anytime there’s a situation where a white man does something that seems slightly unfair to a black man, it’s the “law of unintended consequences based on the optics of the action that he took.”
In short, Congressman Issa is white, and therefore he is a racist.
