I would surmise that this was one of those “previously recorded” segments that was meant to appear as if it were live. Only, someone in the MSNBC editing room didn’t get the memo and left the mistake in…which made for a rather confusing moment for viewers wondering what the hell Chris was smoking.
Luckily, only 7 people were watching that night (a record high ratings number for Christopher Tingle). So, it could have been worse. I mean, Matthews could have misspelled R-E-S-P-E-C-T in front of a live studio audience or something.
