• Awww, Lena Dunham Threatens to Quit Acting

    Oh, dread.

Maybe I’m just a typical guy who will never understand it, but the appeal of HBO’s “Girls” is completely lost on me.

Even less appealing to me is current “it-girl” Lena Dunham, the 27-year-old who writes, directs, acts and produces the edgy series (along with Judd Apatow, whom I actually am a fan of). From what I’ve seen, Dunham is solid at what she does…but fails to offer anything remotely reflective of the praise that’s constantly heaped upon her performances. If you think I’m exaggerating about how she’s treated by the mainstream media, take a look at these highlights from Lena’s recent Today Show profile. Savannah Guthrie looks like she wants to go all “Single White Female” on her:

Okay, then…let’s give Guthrie some privacy so she can change her pants. In the meantime, let’s ask ourselves why NBC and its like-minded “news” colleagues have Lena Fever. Could it be because of this?

Of course. Now it all makes sense. Girlfriend compares voting for Obama to getting laid; let’s nominate her for 2 Golden Globes, 2 Primetime Emmys, and a Critics’ Choice Award! (She won both Globes nods, by the way)

Lena also spends much of her free time on Twitter, where she expresses her tiresome thoughts on feminism, sexism, and her own nudity.

But wait; before this DunhamMobile zips beyond the point of no return, behold her shocking new comments to Glamour:

“I don’t know if I’m going to want to act anymore. I’m always relieved on the days I don’t have to. I’d rather give parts to other women than be the woman having the parts.”

Oh, snap! A TV world without Dunham??? Say it ain’t so. But, seriously: what deep insight she truly has. I mean, imagine peaking at 27.

Alright, GIRLS fans. Now you get your chance to comment.
