• New York Times Reporter: Obama Administration the ‘Greatest Enemy Of Press Freedom’ in a Generation

New York Times reporter James Risen pulled no punches his recent comments about the Obama administration’s handling of the press.

Risen is fighting an order that he testify in the trial of Jeffrey Sterling, a former CIA officer accused of leaking information to him. Speaking at a conference, Risen said the Obama administration is “the greatest enemy of press freedom that we have encountered in at least a generation.” The Obama administration wants to “narrow the field of national security reporting,” Risen contends, to “create a path for accepted reporting.” Risen say that any journalist who doesn’t play ball with the administration “will be punished.”
