Wednesday morning was an exciting one for the mainstream media. Almost TOO exciting, in fact, as two of the Big Three broadcast networks went completely gaga over Barry’s little shopping spree at The Gap earlier this week. But why, pray tell, was NBC and CBS leaking so much spittle onto their collective desks? Simple: to distract viewers from the news of the Democrats’ devastating Florida loss on Tuesday night, which was obviously the bigger story. According to NewsBusters, the reporting on David Jolly’s victory in that special election received less than a minute of coverage between all three morning news networks COMBINED. Yet, two of these same networks found it fitting to award Obama’s outing at The Gap more than 3 and a half minutes of precious airtime, and simultaneously used it as an excuse to change the subject to the minimum wage debate, which Democrats believe they’re on the “winning side” of.
It’s interesting though; I always thought of Obama as more of a Banana Republic kind of guy. You?
