Word to the wise: don’t disrespect Barack Obama in front of George Clooney, or he’s likely to get medieval on your buttocks. TMZ has a rather entertaining account of a showdown between ole’ Clooney Tunes and Steve Wynn, the billionaire chairman and CEO of Wynn Resorts in Las Vegas. In a nutshell, Wynn was casting aspersions on Obamacare during a fancy-schmancy Vegas dinner, and Clooney didn’t like it. Clooney told Wynn that Obama is a “longtime friend” of his, at which point, Steve retorted with a real gem of an insult: “Your friend is an asshole.” Clooney, unable to think of anything else to say, told Wynn that HE is the asshole, and left the table.
Poor George. He’s having a real hard time dealing with the fact that no one really likes Barack anymore. Perhaps he should whisk the president away to his villa on Lake Como, where they can have some special alone time to commiserate.
Steve Wynn later told the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “When [George] is drinking, he considers himself a close personal buddy of the president…Everybody who’s in my business — the casino business — knows to take actors with a grain of salt.”
Inside, Steve was probably chanting to himself, “WYNNING!”
