Now it has hit the United States, with reported Smart Car tipping incidents in Seattle, Indianapolis, and this week, San Francisco. It’s not clear whether it’s being done to target these particular vehicles, or simply because they’re so lightweight and compact that it’s easily accomplished. But it’s pretty rude, to say the least, whether you think the cars look ridiculous or not.
Look, I’d personally never buy a Smart Car. Even if they are environmentally friendly, they are terribly dangerous for drivers, as evidenced by those who have been mangled in accidents involving one. But that’s no excuse to screw around with someone’s personal property. If the kids think they’re servicing a greater good by making a statement against the hoity-toity, they should remind themselves that these cars only cost around $13,000. Maybe that’s all the driver was able to afford. The only thing these dopes are succeeding in doing is giving an average Joe out there a really crappy day. But, I suppose that’s precisely what all vandals strive for in the first place.
