At first, when you catch a glimpse of footage like this, your thoughts turn to fear. You wonder: why is he doing that? Does he end up safe?
And then when you find out what the man’s actual motives were, you sort of stop caring whether he turned into street-pizza or not.As CBS reports, 26-year old Matthew McCorkle was clinging to the side of that taxi because he was actually attempting a carjacking. But the cab driver wasn’t having any of that, so he hit the gas and sped away…with McCorkle still in tow. I suppose once the driver started to hit 70 miles per hour, the criminal had no choice but to hang on for dear life.
According to investigators, McCorkle eventually hopped off, carjacked another vehicle, and managed to pull the second driver from the car. But then, he crashed.
Now he’s being held for a mental evaluation, as authorities sort through Matthew’s gigantic rap sheet, filled with weapons possession, drug violations, suspended licenses, grand larceny, driving while intoxicated, and more.
So all in all, it was a happy ending.
