Just when you didn’t think Team Obama could get anymore tone-deaf, they do. Addressing troops, Joe Biden said the United States is “behind right now” in caring for its veterans.
If that isn’t the understatement of the year, I don’t what is.
Earth to Joe, your boss, Barack Obama campaigned on fixing the problems in the VA.
In 2008 Obama said the VA will be the “leader of healthcare reform.” A year earlier he said, “After seven years of an Administration that has stretched our military to the breaking point, ignored deplorable conditions at some VA hospitals, and neglected the planning and preparation necessary to care for our returning heroes, America’s veterans deserve a President who will fight for them not just when it’s easy or convenient, but every hour of every day for the next four years.”
Now that reports have surfaced that a least 40 U.S. veterans died while waiting for medical appointments at Phoenix’s Veterans Affairs Health Care system and thanks to some brave whistle blowers, Americans have learned a great deal about the inherent flaws of government-run healthcare–like the kind currently being administered at VA hospitals across the country.Send this to a friend
