Liberals howled when conservatives blasted Michelle Obama’s tweet about the kidnapped girls suffering at the hands of the Al Qaeda affiliate group, Boko Haram. As a small aside, the Obama campaign narrative of a defeated Al Qaeda seems to be another proven lie among a long list of lies . . . but I digress.
The reality is, the latest example of twitter nonsense from Team Obama shows that America is being governed by children.Michelle Obama isn’t elected, and in truth, if she wants to partake in meaningless tweets that have zero impact in the real world, more power to her. But this latest display of vapidity is a poor substitute for real action.
When I voiced my disdain over the flippant action, liberals wagged their fingers at me on Facebook, boasting that Michelle Obama made a “huge difference” in raising awareness of the plight of these girls. One such respondent informed me that “5.4 million people see the first lady’s tweets.”
I couldn’t help but think, “How reassuring. 5.4 million people from all over the world can now see that the best Mrs. Obama’s husband can do in the face of international terror is a Twitter campaign.”
It’s one thing if the First Lady of the United States (a symbolic position, after all) decides to tweet in the absence of real-life action. It’s quite another when the U.S. State Department partakes in the same insanity.Jen Psaki, the U.S. State Department Spokesperson, has taken to Twitter to show U.S. support for Ukraine as tanks and troops mass on the border, Russian warplanes invade Ukrainian airspace and the Crimean peninsula is taken away from Ukraine by Russia. To add insult to injury, as President Vladimir Putin’s forces remained poised for further invasion and disruption of Ukraine’s elections, Psaki jumped into cyberspace to scold Russia for not living up their hashtags on Twitter.
In an interview on AM 700 KSEV with former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton, I asked him to weigh in on this “response” from Team Obama. His retort was classic Bolton: “I love children . . . I just don’t think they should be in charge of foreign policy.”
We can at least thank Mrs. Obama for single handedly blowing up Resident Obama’s 2012 campaign narrative that GM is alive and Bin Laden, and by extension Al Qaeda, is dead. GM is back in bankruptcy court and Al Qaeda and its illiterate cousin, Boko Haram, is alive, well, and growing. So what is a clearly outclassed and juvenile administration to do?
History shows us that hashtag diplomacy certainly isn’t the best America can do. But I wholeheartedly believe it’s the best Resident Obama can do. Indeed, the only time Obama thinks of using force is when it comes to using it against American conservatives. Sadly, America is stuck with this group of unserious leftists, at least until 2017. God knows how much more damage they will bring to the U.S and the world in the intervening years.
