If you don’t want to listen to a pundit on this one, at least give Howard Stern a chance. He makes a similar point to the one I raised last week about how Republicans are shooting themselves in the foot if they think the Karl Rove strategy of launching superficial attacks against Hillary will accomplish anything other than emboldening The Clintons.
Stern is a bit hard to pin down politically these days. When it comes to guns and abortion, he’s a very liberal guy. He’s also a fan of Michael Bloomberg and does go off on a bit of an anti-Cheney screed in this clip. But he has also been known to watch Fox News…a lot. Mostly for the ladies, of course, but he has also admitted on several occasions that “The Five” is his favorite show.
Truth be told, it doesn’t take a genius to realize that Karl Rove’s playbook is going to backfire. And since Howard Stern speaks for the everyman, it might be wise not to dismiss his advice.
