“It’s like the president waited to see how strong the winds were blowing and what direction they were coming from, so he exhausted every effort to keep on the general, the chief of the VA,” Schultz said. “But clearly, the Republicans got what they wanted. The question is, are the veterans going to get what they need? And that takes funding.”
Indeed, Shinseki resigned from his post Friday as Veteran Affairs Secretary.
“I regret that he has to resign under these circumstances,” Obama said of Shinseki today.
But Shinseki is just the tip of this massively flawed and deadly iceberg. People have died at VA hospitals and facilities as a result of calculated delays in treatment and secret waiting lists.
It’s time to prosecute people, Barry. And send the guilty parties to prison.
