Bill Clinton supported the Iraq war. He even defended President Bush’s decision to invade Iraq. Now, Slick Willy is blaming Bush for the current catastrophe in the Muslim world being brought on by Obama’s horrible foreign policy.
“If they hadn’t gone to war in Iraq, none of this would be happening,” Clinton said in an interview with NBC’s David Gregory. ”Iraq would not have been, in effect, drastically altered as it has been.”
He also added that Dick Cheney has for the last six years been “attacking the administration for not doing an adequate job cleaning up the mess that he made. And I think it’s unseemly.”
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, in response, cited a CNN story from 2004 with the headline: “Clinton defends successor’s push for war.” The CNN article quotes Clinton saying, “I have repeatedly defended President Bush on Iraq.”
“This is collective amnesia on the Left,” Scarborough said noting that Bill Clinton and other Democrats stopped supporting the Iraq war after it became less popular among Americans.
“If there’s somebody who knows something about unseemly, it’s Bill Clinton,” Cheney said in response.
