    “Dollars do not vote — you do!”

    And that’s how economics professor Dave Brat kicked off his victory speech last night after clobbering Eric Cantor in Virginia’s District 7 primary.

    “This campaign was about basic American values and virtues right from the beginning,” Brat added. “And the basic premise is that power belongs to the people, and that’s what we’re gonna do.”

    As Daily Surge noted, Brat’s primary victory was historic: Never before has a sitting House Majority Leader been defeated.

    For his part, Cantor said the loss was “disappointing” (understatement!), but that he believes in the country and the opportunity she has to offer.
