“This is a community with a border going through it.”
Wow. So it’s just that simple, right? We’re all Americans, no matter where we reside. It’s just those pesky borders that keep dividing us! Why didn’t I think of that?
Well, I probably didn’t think of that because it’s — pardon the pun — “borderline” insane. I suppose the implication here is that in Nancy’s ideal “PelosiTopia,” we would simply remove all borders and allow the world to be completely united as one. She appears dismayed that borders even exist at all…and remains completely ignorant of the reasons why they were created in the first place. To listen to Pelosi, one might believe that our borders are the unfortunate result of some extreme weather incident that tore us all apart, rather than an intentional structure intended to preserve our own future interests as a nation.
This desperation is nothing new for Democrats, who have wanted nothing more than to pass immigration reform so that they may shore up some permanent love from their Hispanic constituency. Just the other day, Pelosi herself went so far as to praise her arch-nemesis, George W. Bush, on his immigration views:
Now if THAT’S not desperate, I don’t know what is. Pelosi and her fellow Democrats are beaming, in light of news that President Obama is currently consulting with DHS on crafting new executive orders on immigration. Because, you know, when those pesky Republicans are getting you down, there’s always Obama’s “phone and pen” to set things right.
Actually, when you look at all he’s been doing recently, I think Obama is bypassing the phone too, and just going right for the pen. It saves him a step.
