• Florida Man Paints American Flag On His Home To Protest Code Enforcement Fines

Florida man Brent Greer has had enough of Bradenton’s city code compliance regulations. And in protest of a $250-a-day fine for a debris pile, Greer painted his house red, white, and blue in the fashion of the American flag. “It’s to remind the city and all those who live here that this is America,” Greer said. “This is a free country.

MyFoxTampaBay.com reports that he painted his home after city code enforcement officers inspected the house after someone reported a dead Christmas tree in the front of his house. The inspectors said they found other items they called code violations and threatened Greer with steep fines. “I decided to paint the American flag in order to show this is still America,” Greer told MyFoxTampaBay.

Volker Reiss, a code compliance manager, said the “code compliance is all we’re looking for.”

“I got seven adopted kids, we’re foster parents,” Greer said. “Kids coming in and out of my house, they’re my priority. My house is safe. It’s state certified safe.”

Greer also said he plans to paint the Liberty Bell on the second floor.

Greer faces a hearing with the code enforcement board on June 17.
