• ISIS: More Than Al Qaeda 2.0

Iraq is going to hell on a rocket…again.

Sacrifices paid in American blood during Operation Iraqi Freedom by our troops in places like Fallujah, Tikrit and Mosul are now seemingly rendered moot as the terrorist group ISIS is on a bloodlust march towards Baghdad.  And in case you haven’t heard yet, the United States has begun evacuating its embassy there.

ISIS, which is the acronym for Islamic State in Iraq and Syria is an Al Qaeda mutation that has seized a large swath of land in the north of Iraq below Kurdistan and is on a steady march at a quick clip to Baghdad, all the while slaughtering soldiers (reportedly Shiite) on the way there. {quote}  After capturing Mosul last week, ISIS is flush with cash and US weapons and technology including at least one Blackhawk. This terrorist group, which is so extreme even Al Qaeda considers them ‘cray cray’, is hell bent on creating an Islamic Caliphate in Syria and Iraq.  And there are many, many Sunni muslims in Iraq who are reportedly all too eager to jump on the caliphate bandwagon.

As Al Qaeda’s ‘grand poobah’ was Osama Bin Laden, ISIS has a similar warlord leader: Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.  Baghdadi took the place of previous ISIS leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi who was killed in an airstrike in 2006.  Interestingly enough, the US had custody of Baghdadi but thanks to President Obama he was released from Camp Bucca in Iraq in 2009.  It is all too apparent that Baghdadi has taken up where Zarqawi’s smoking corpse had left off.  Lately the press has taken to calling him Osama Bin Laden 2.0 but judging by the disturbing images being posted by ISIS to social media and reported in the press, he may be a class unto himself.

There are reports that ISIS has even crucified those they ‘accuse’ of joining the Syrian regime led by Assad.  In Nineveh province in Iraq they have (surprise, surprise) instituted Sharia law. And even as recent as a few days ago, ISIS has even gone to far as to post a picture on Twitter of their beheading of a Shiite Iraqi policeman, with the hashtag of #WorldCup “’This is our football, it’s made of skin”. What a prime example of how barbaric and evil incarnate this terrorist group is.

In fact, ISIS is so extreme even Al Qaeda won’t deal with them.  Let…that…sink…in.
