It’s probably safe to assume that when New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio woke up Thursday morning, he didn’t anticipate that one of his city’s most widely read news papers would be featuring a headline calling him an “Ass.”
And yet, that’s precisely what he woke up to.
Less than one year after the New York Daily News endorsed Bill de Blasio for mayor, that paper ran a headline today that said, “You’re an Ass, Mr. Mayor.”
Here it is, in all it’s glory:
The headline is the result of a campaign the Daily News launched in April to save Central Park’s carriage horses, which de Blasio plans to replace with electric cars.
Nymag.com reports that on Wednesday, 100 carriage-horse supporters dumped sacks containing 40,000 signed petitions on the steps of City Hall. In response, de Blasio sent one of his aids to pick up those sacks containing the petitions. And that’s what prompted this morning’s horse’s ass-related headline.
Surrounded by reporters after his morning jog, de Blasio said he hadn’t seen the paper.
