Joan Rivers is the gift that keeps on giving, year after year after year. She’s still getting mileage over her CNN walk-off, and whether or not that was a publicity stunt doesn’t even seem to matter at this point. Joan is a true original, and anyone that thinks they have any shot of getting the best of her had better go big or go home. That’s why I knew instantly that David Letterman would be in for a shock when he decided to stage a fake “walk-off” of his own while interviewing the comedienne (though I’m sure he loved every second of it). She may have more years behind her than ahead of her, but I’d still take Joan as Dave’s replacement over Stephen Colbert any day.
I won’t spoil what happened last night for those of you who haven’t seen it yet, but click the video above to experience what happens when you leave Joan Rivers alone on a stage with a studio audience. It’s a priceless moment in late night TV history.
