In one way or another, Team Obama has miscalculated all of the following:
The Obama White House has failed on foreign policy more or less everywhere that matters across the globe. Arab Spring? More like Terrorist Summer. It’s made all the more infuriating by the fact that Mitt Romney correctly identified each and every one of these threat areas during his run for the presidency in 2012, but what else is new?
The important point is that they’re doing it again. In the clip above, we have Ben Rhodes, Obama’s current Deputy National Security Adviser and close confidant. During his appearance on Sunday’s State of the Union, he revealed that the administration is seeking “a common place” between Israel and Hamas. And therein lies more of that classic Obama naïveté. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to realize that such a “common place” between Israel and Hamas does not exist. The only chance Israel has for peace is is if destroys its enemy completely. When a terrorist group like Hamas is hell-bent on the annihilation of an entire state, there are no negotiations that can possibly take place that would allow diplomacy to win the day. And yet, Obama keeps sending John Kerry back in there to talk about cease-fires.
Cease-fires? Really? Here’s Bibi on Face the Nation, explaining that Hamas has broken each and every one of the cease-fires that Israel has agreed to:
You don’t hear Netanyahu talking about “a common place” between Israel and Hamas there, do you? Nope, because THERE ISN’T ONE.
When will this White House realize that they can’t talk their way out of every crisis? Ben Rhodes is proving that the administration fundamentally misunderstands, miscalculates, and underestimates what is actually going on between Israel and Hamas. This is an existential fight which requires true American leadership…and an awful lot more than limp-wristed words. I’m sorry to say that we’re going to have to add Hamas to the “miscalculation list” above, all because Obama’s “Don’t Do Stupid Stuff” foreign policy was a grand experiment in absolute failure.
