• What Am I Doing Right Now? Oh, Just Clutching the Trunk of a Car Speeding Down the Interstate

    Cool, cool

Well, you don’t see this every day. Unless you’re watching Quentin Tarantino’s “Death Proof,” that is.

Here we have a man cruising down I-77 in North Carolina…as he clings for dear life onto the trunk of a speeding Oldsmobile Alero.

The story: it started as a domestic dispute, with the man grabbing his girlfriend by the arm and pulling her to the ground. A witness says the woman abandoned her car in an intersection, ran into a Payless shoe store to try and get help, and then returned to her car and drove off, as the man walked away. Minutes later, she was driving up the interstate with that same man grabbing hold of the car’s exterior, as she easily did 55 miles per hour!

Luckily, no one was hurt. This real-life game of “Ship’s Mast” could have had a very different result if, say, the wind had decided not to be on the man’s side. I was never an Oldsmobile kind of guy when they were in business, but I’ve got to admit: this is fairly impressive vehicle performance. Either that, or this guy is some kind of Spider-Man. He might even be able to teach his skills to others…you know, after he most likely heads to the slammer for abusing his girl and all.
