• Krauthammer On Obama’s Foley Statement: “This Is A Political Reaction To A Horrific Event”

You can always count on Charles Krauthammer to call it like it is. And tonight on “Special Report,” that’s exactly what he did.

Hours after Obama gave a lousy statement on the beheading of American journalist James Foley, his liberal allies in the press leaked a report that “U.S. special operations forces early this summer launched a secret, major rescue operation in Syria to save James Foley and a number of Americans held by the extremist group ISIS, but the mission failed because the hostages weren’t there, senior administration officials told ABC News today,” ABC News reports.

This is a political reaction to a horrific event,” Krauthammer said about the leaked information about the failed rescue mission. “The administration is trying to say, ‘We’re not just standing by and watching.’ It is the usual instinct of this administration to think first of the politics.”

“The other way you could interpret this,” Krauthammer said, “is to say, it is a message to the bad guys that we tried, we didn’t succeed, but we’re coming after you.”

The major response, the proper response, the one ISIS would worry about the most is not a rescue mission, it’s the continuation of the air strikes. So it’s encouraging that we redouble the air strikes today with 15 strikes,” he continued.

Obviously, our mission here is larger,” Krauthammer added. “The president won’t say it. The air force is supporting the troops on the ground, that is succeeding. Will he continue it and sustain it over time? That’s the real question, and that’s what ISIS is worried about.”
