Ever since DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince held a mini-reunion on the Graham Norton Show when they performed the theme song to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 2013 (along with Alfonso Ribeiro and Will’s son), fans have wondered when a “proper” reunion might take place. After all, Smith’s movie career has completely overtaken his rap career, and it’s rare that he puts out any material these days, let alone tunes with Jeff. But if this clip is any indication, the two rap icons have still got the skills. Considering that Will’s recent film with director M. Night Shyamalan, After Earth, was a complete flop (as most of Night’s movies are these days), perhaps reviving the old posse is just what the doctor ordered.
Smith and “Jazz” performed what was arguably Will’s biggest hit, “Summertime,” during a special appearance in Las Vegas, as The Fresh Prince crashed Jazzy Jeff’s DJ set at The Palms. There’s been no word about this being any sort of “testing of the waters” to possibly become more than a one-off performance, but you know how these things go.
Oh yeah, and this happened too:
