“We have all been shocked and sickened by the barbarism that has been witnessed in Iraq this summer,” Cameron said today in the House of Commons. “The widespread slaughter of Muslims by fellow Muslims; the vicious persecution of religious minorities, such as Christians and Yazidis; the enslavement and raping of women; and, of course, the beheading of the American journalist James Foley, with the voice of what seems to be a British terrorist recorded on that video.”
Cameron suggested a number of ways his country can combat ISIS’s deadly conquest.
“Passports are not an automatic right,” he said. “We will introduce specific and targeted legislation to fill this gap by providing the police with a temporary power to seize a passport at the border, during which time they will be able to investigate the individual concerned.
Cameron also said he’d propose legislation that would empower British authorities with the ability to track suspected ISIS supporters, by providing “enhanced use of exclusion zones” or “relocation powers,” CNN reports.
An estimated 500 Britons have joined ISIS in Iraq and Syria, half of whom now live the U.K., BBC reports. To those British nationals who’ve chosen to join forces with ISIS, Cameron says “It’s abhorrent that people who declare their allegiance elsewhere are able to return to the United Kingdom and pose a threat to our national security.”
“Britain will continue to consider what further role is in our national interests, including any further diplomatic, humanitarian or, indeed, military measures we might take,” Cameron Concluded.
That’s more detail on how America will deal with ISIS, than what Barack Obama has said so far.
U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI), who heads the House Intelligence Committee, says hundreds of Americans have connections with ISIS militants.
So far, all we have from Obama is a lousy statement that says he still doesn’t have a plan to deal with the deadly terror group–even Democrats are slamming the president’s amateurism.Send this to a friend
