His faux-confidence certainly isn’t believable whatsoever, yet it was still absolutely outrageous to hear Obama proclaim this morning that ISIS is a “manageable problem.” I’m pretty sure he said the same thing about Obamacare, but I digress. ISIS is “manageable”? If that’s true, then POTUS has already failed…because two Americans have now lost their heads, with potentially a third victim to come. Clearly, he hasn’t been able to “manage” these thugs to date. So if they can be managed, Obama isn’t the guy to do it. Ron Fournier of National Journal (seen above) said it was “awfully passive language to be using about this kind of brutality we’re seeing.” Indeed. The only thing Barack could have done to behave more passively this morning would have been to head back to the greens, ala his post-James Foley ritual. But I guess the golf situation isn’t so inviting where he was today in Estonia.
NBC’s Richard Engel added it’s “quite ridiculous” that, despite his slightly tougher tone, Obama still has no ISIS strategy:
“This has been going on for over three years,” said Engel. “The buildup of ISIS has not been rapid; it has been quite slow.” Yet, the president acts as if the terror group just showed up on the scene last week.
Interestingly, Vice President Joe Biden was let off his leash this afternoon, presumably to behave in a slightly more aggressive manner towards ISIS than Obama feels comfortable with:“We will follow them to the gates of Hell, until they are brought to justice!” shouted Joe. “Because Hell is where they will reside! Hell is where they will reside!”
Okay, excellent. There’s a start.
Unfortunately, when you have Secretary of State John Kerry out there proclaiming that “The real face of Islam is not what we saw yesterday,” it sort of undermines Biden’s passion. “The real face of Islam is a peaceful religion,” insisted Kerry. Yeah, I’m sure that puts the Sotloff and Foley families at ease.
The fact is that Barack Obama is trying to have it both ways now. Last week, he told us he didn’t have a strategy, while this week, he’s out there trying to convince us that he’s been closely watching ISIS for a long time. Well, as Col. Tony Shaffer puts it, then he’s been derelict of his duty! If he’s been paying attention to the growth of ISIS all along and still let these two poor journalists get their heads cut off, then shame on him. At this point, no matter which scenario is the real one, Obama’s poor leadership has become nearly as grotesque to me as ISIS itself.Today, the president told us that we must “isolate this cancer” called ISIS. But in the meantime, what are we going to do about the “cancer” called Obama?
