Aside from being the longtime host of America’s favorite gameshow, our friend Alex Trebek does have some conservative tendencies. Over the years Alex Trebek has supported many conservative causes. He reportedly helped sponsor a February 2010 fundraiser in Malibu, hosted by the PAC Combat Veterans for Congress, which supported 18 Republican candidates.
When asked his thoughts on welfare programs, Trebek told Politico “People are relying too much on the government.”“If you want to tax high earners more, it would be nice if you told us where you are spending the money,” he said. “If you are going to use our extra taxes to reduce the debt, fine. If you are going to use our extra taxes to finance new programs, whoa, let’s slow down a moment.”
Trebek also doesn’t think the Washington Redskins should change their name.
“They weren’t called the Redskins because we thought Redskins were terrible; it’s because we admire their strength, their abilities,” he said.
So when I came across this hilarious clip of Mr. Trebek bungling contestants’ names during a taping of the interview portion of the show, I couldn’t resist sharing it.
Enjoy!
